New Programme for 2018

The New Year sees Make the Paint Dance launch a new programme.

The Inspiring Women programme features the work of Alma Woodsy Thomas and Mary Lou Williams and the first pilot project will be run to celebrate International Women's Day 2018.

The programme looks at our perceptions of women from a young age asking questions about the roles. We look at the Alma Woodsy Thomas and Mary Lou Williams to explore the ways in which music and art helped them to overcome the gender and racial discrimination they both faced.

Children will have the opportunity to work alongside jazz musicians and an artist to explore the music and art of these two inspiring women and produce their own mini compositions based on the artwork and music.
